Heavy snow, ice dams, and blocked soffit vents are common here. Moisture gets into the attic, sits on the wood, and mould follows. An inspection tells you whether it is surface staining or something that needs real work.
We look at the underside of the roof sheathing, rafters, and any insulation that may be holding moisture. We also note ventilation — if air cannot move, moisture stays.
Sometimes what looks like mould is just dirt or old staining. Sometimes it is active growth that will keep spreading until the moisture source is fixed. You will leave knowing which one you are dealing with.
If you had ice dams, staining on upper-floor ceilings, or a roof repair this year, an attic check is reasonable. Catching growth early is cheaper than waiting until the next melt cycle.
